PETROL BLUES

Okay, I'm going to hold my hands up and say I do love a bit of Primark every now and then. We all do, so stop fibbing. Once you can get past the jumble sale feel and the vast amount of tat, you can find some awesome pieces that you'd swear were a lot more expensive then they are, you just have to look a little harder. Their Autumn/Winter stuff is really strong this year I think, they have some amazing knitwear and lots of really cool accessory bits to transition into the colder months; like scarves, hats and boots. I have always been a fan of their jewellery too, well, not all of it, a large amount of it is not to my taste at all, but there are the occasional gems that I'm all over.

Like these rings I found in the last few weeks. The top image came together in a set for less than a fiver, and I practically ripped them off the shelf when I saw them. It's not common that I find a set of rings that I like all of, but each ring in this set is designed just to my taste. I tend to wear the pyramid one on its own on my forefinger, and then wear the other three together across two hands, I love the chunky-ness of them and the rustic silver and black colouring. Don't you? The petrol looking one is pretty awesome too, and makes quite a statement with its bold shape and textured finish.

The second image is another great little find. I love the colours and the shield like shape to it. The size of it makes my fingers feel all dainty, which is always a plus. For Primark it has quite a lot of detail which I find quite unusual, it's normally all faded or badly pressed, but this one came out all Topshop-y. Do you agree?

I think rings are my favorite type of jewellery, closely followed by earrings. Anyone who knows me will back this up! It's turning into quite the obsession... I like rings to be big and chunky, rusted metal and maybe some sort of gemstone encased. Sort of boho/eclectic style. Perfect.

What's your favorite type of jewellery? Do you get yours from Primark too? Fell free to leave a comment on what you think, I love to have a natter!

SUNGLASSES... IN WINTER

Well isn't that an attractive pose right there? Ha! I'd thought I'd show you some of the new sunnies in my life... I seem to have a thing for sunglasses, my collection has grown quite a lot this year, and just because it's getting colder and colder, it doesn't mean these babies have to take a back seat. After all, it doesn't have to be warm to be bright, right? The top pair are a little gem I found in Topshop when I went for a girly shopping trip to Kensington with my friend. I love big frames (not entirely because they make my face look slimmer, honest...) and ones that have a little character to them. I'm not overly adventurous when it comes to clothing, so I like to make my mark when it comes to accessories, naturally these beauties found their way to the till before I had even realised I had taken out my purse. They're tortoise shell, and have a thick, slightly eyebrow-looking frame, held together with a gold nose bar and I simply adore them. When I wear them, I feel like a celeb or something, hiding away behind a slightly ombre brown lens. What do you think? I find the shape quite flattering, and having quite a rounded face, any given structure is a must.
The second pair were a slight impulse buy. I had gone to Bristol, and stupidly left the Topshop guys on the back seat of the car back home before I left. If I am honest, I had gone out whilst in Bristol, and then had a day of shopping with a friend the day after, and I wanted to hide the evidence under my eyes.
I popped in to Aldo, just for a browse and came across these. Feeling nostalgic over my forgotten shades, I ended up back at the till. Oops. Raybans have always been popular, and I've always admired wayfarers on other people, but I've always thought they were a little too small for my face. These similar shaped ones are a little bigger, and have a thin frame, around the bottom half which I really like. Again, they are tortoise shell - I see a pattern emerging here - but I think the blend of browns and blacks make this style more wearable. Thoughts? The only thing that annoys me ever so slightly about these are those annoying, plastic nose bits. I know they're there to help them stay on your face but I find them so irritating, and always the first things to break of go skew wiff. Ah well, I can cope because the rest of them is just so darn lovely.
What shape do you go for?

SILVER SPIKE

Necklace, earrings and band ring - Primark
Turqouise stone ring - gift
Aztec is still pretty hot right now, especially in jewellery terms I think. So when I spotted these Aztec inspired silver and black earrings, I knew they'd fit in well with my many other pieces. The amount of jewellery I have is ridiculous. Probably more then any other thing I own, including clothes, and that's saying something!
The cut out shape is really cool, but they don't hang all that well. The black part is on a hinge, so instead of hanging down straight all pretty, they tend to point off towards the back of my neck, which is a tad annoying, but for the minuscule price of £2 I can't complain!
You may have seen this necklace have it's debut not so long ago here, this is what it looks like the right way around! I'm not too sure on the greens painted onto the front of the spikes, but I think if I'm wearing something with flecks of green in, or a pale green knit, maybe like this, it would work really well. For now though I think I'll keep wearing it back to front...
This silver band ring was an absolute steal, at only a pound from the men's section I had to. Yet it's a little big. Damn it! Ah well, I can wear it on those hot days when your fingers seem to be fatter. Do you know what I mean?! Haha. You do.
Ah the turquoise ring. I love love love this so much. I have been on the hunt for a silver and turquoise ring that's just right for a while, and this one is just that. It was actually a present from the boy on our one year not too long ago, didn't he do well! Major points there. Although the only issue is that it's just a little too small. Oh.
That's okay though, I think I'll be able to swap it for a slightly bigger one so all is not lost!
I seem to be gravitating towards silver again, but I always tend to go for the rustier, worn looking metals, rather than the blindingly bright ones.

Are you wearing much silver recently? Do you like my buys?

"OH YOU WEAR SUNGLASSES INSIDE? IT MUST BE SUNNY ON PLANET COOL."

Oh I love a good pair of sunnies. Don't you? They're perfect for hiding tired eyes, or can't-be-bothered-to-put-mascara-on eyes, plus they have the power to add a whole lot of jazz to your look. Whether that's instant glam, or retro chic, edgy cool or just nerd central, there is a frame out there for everyone. So glad this little gem is working it's way back into the mainstream again for Spring '13. And things are getting exciting.

Gone are the days of boring sunglasses, this Spring, designers have been popping out crazy shades on the catwalks. Over-sized, cat-eye, square, round, hexagonal, neon the lot. Take your pick!

They'e so versatile and really can be worked in so many ways. Definitely an all round wearable trend this season. If you have some old ones, why not re-invent them? Get your creative hat on, grab some glue and glitter and things and get messy. Re-vamp, and restyle, your way. The ultimate statement sunny! Let me know if you do DIY some, I'd love to see!

What do you think?
I'm so in love with my design. It is me to a T. I chose to design the overall aesthetic of the bracelet how I would like it to look once on, so rather than just picking lots of different charms, I've gone with repetition to keep it looking slick. I just adore natural looking jewellery, weirdly I'd pick something that's wooden and rusty looking over something pure gold or silver! So that's why I have gone for the leather bracelet. I have had my eye on this for a long time now, so this could be my chance! I love pretty much any jewellery with wooden accents, so I had to go for the Acapu wood beads. I think they keep the earthy, boho theme of the bracelet in check, and by placing them equally away from the centre bead, balance out the whole look. Ah I just love it. This red, or Oxblood, is my absolute favourite colour, as you may be able to tell by my blog page and I genuinely (if it didn't make me look like a walking grape) would wear it head to toe. The faceted cut of this bead will catch the light beautifully, and give the bracelet a subtle sparkle which is just enough for me as I don't consider myself to be much of an 'out there bling' person. I chose the zen bead as I like to try and keep my life calm and balanced. I'm a strong believer in Karma and am a very spiritual person so this bead suits me well. I went for the orange as it is kind of a burnt tone, that complements the red and the wood really well and the spacer beads at each end will keep everything together. I chose quite simple beads, as I don't like my jewellery to be too over done so to speak, I like to keep things fun, but with a boho, natural vibe. I hope you like it!
